As of May 2015, master violin maker Thomas Meuwissen is holding a residency at the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels, where he has a visually open studio in which he is creating a complete string quartet for all eyes to see. His workshop is located on the 7th floor of "Old England", the museum's listed Art Nouveau building.
Brussels is a lively cultural city at the heart of Europe, with an overwhelming range of top-quality concert venues. It is close to musical cities such as Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges. Paris, Amsterdam and London are within easy reach, too.
Meuwissen's work is stimulated by his intensive contacts with the upper echelons of the musical world. The fact that so many stars pass by, entails that fascinating instruments are entrusted to Meuwissen's workshop for essential adjustments.
